Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Linqun Village, 6 km east of Moyang, Luodian, Guizhou. It was named by the Regional Geological Survey Party of Guizhou Bureau of Geology in the early 1960s.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Dark-gray and gray-black moderately thick- to thick-bedded chert nodules-bearing limestone, clayey limestone and thin-bedded siliceous rock, intercalated with shale and siliceous rock, 200−800 m thick. Lower part is dominated by limestone and thin-bedded siliceous limestone, crystalline limestone and marl, intercalated with minor thin-bedded siliceous rock and chert nodules, with meters to 20 meters thick siliceous rock developed on bottom. Upper part consists of black shale and siliceous clay intercalated with chert limestone, with limestone increasing in the Nashui section.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Daihua Fm (with Gedongguan Bed Fm at Devon/Carb boundary).

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying Xiaolangfengguan Fm

Regional extent

Distributed within a range of ~100 km from Linqun to Ziyun. Coeval with Ruya group (lower Xiaruya Fm and upper Shangruya Fm) of more basinal facies of Wangmo County

Fossils

Yields minor amounts of corals, brachiopods, etc., and containing Conodonts Gnathodus cf. semiglaber, G. bilineatus bilineatus, Paragnathodus commutatus, P. nodosus, etc.
